Team Reciprocity stave off reverse sweep, defeat Luminosity to pick up first win of 2019 CWL Pro League
One of the top European teams in Call of Duty esports has taken down a North American squad with a few former world champions.
Luminosity came into their first CWL Pro League match against Team Reciprocity as heavy favorites. Reciprocity were swept by Red Reserve on Monday, and Luminosity became one of the first four teams to qualify for the league at CWL Las Vegas in December.
The matchup didn’t play out nearly how many thought it would, though. Reciprocity came out strong and took the opening Hardpoint by 12 points. They then followed it up with a 6-3 Search and Destroy win to put themselves just one map away from the win.
Luminosity looked like they’d still steal away the match. After winning both the Control and Hardpoint maps, Luminosity looked primed to complete the reverse sweep. It wasn’t meant to be, however, and Reciprocity won the final Search and Destroy in 10 rounds to secure the victory.
In the other matches on Tuesday, OpTic Gaming also won their first game of the regular season, beating UYU in a close five-game series. Gen.G and Midnight were victorious in their respective matches as well.
Here are the standings in Division A of the CWL Pro League (each team’s series record is followed by their map count in parentheses).
